CONNECTING HUMANITY'S FUTURE TO ANTARCTICA

Why this is important

Most people think Antarctica is a remote wilderness. It is also Earth's control panel. The wildlife, oceans, currents and atmosphere surrounding and created by Antarctica regulate multiple systems that make life possible for our whole planet. As Antarctica changes, it sends signals about our future that are critical to us all.

The Foundation

The International Antarctic Foundation exists to bridge that gap. Based at the International Antarctic Centre in Christchurch, The International Antarctic Foundation aims to support creating and translating Antarctic knowledge into global understanding. We will create practical opportunities for individuals, businesses and communities to contribute to solutions.

What we support

The International Antarctic Foundation will direct funding into three key areas: Education, Research and Conservation. These three key elements have the power to transform our societies understanding of Antarctica for the betterment of our planet.

Scientists conducting Antarctic field research on ice

The Foundation supports field research, technology development and scientific collaboration to advance knowledge and prepare society for environmental change.
